First Login
After installing Anonymate and creating your account, you'll be taken to the home screen. Here's what you'll see and how to get started:
Key Areas of the Interface
-
Navigation Bar
Located at the bottom of the screen (mobile) or left side (desktop), the navigation bar provides access to the main sections of the app: Home, Explore, Create, Clips, and Profile.
-
Messages and Notifications
In the top-right corner, you'll find the messages of all your friend, followers and even unknown accounts, and the notify center where you will be informed of every event
-
Content Feed
The main area of the screen displays content from other users. Initially, this will show trending content until you start following users or topics.
-
Create Button
The prominent "+" button allows you to create new content. Its color indicates your current mode (red for anonymous, gray for public).
Switching Between Anonymous and Public Modes
One of Anonymate's key features is the ability to switch between anonymous and public modes. Here's how it works:
In anonymous mode:
- Your identity is hidden from other users
- Content you post cannot be traced back to your account
- You'll be assigned a temporary identifier for each session
- The app interface will have a dark red accent color to indicate anonymous mode
In public mode:
- Your username and profile are visible to others
- Content you post is associated with your profile
- You can build a following and reputation
- The app interface will have a dark gray accent color to indicate public mode
To switch between modes:
- Tap the mode toggle switch in the top-right corner of the screen
- Confirm your choice in the dialog that appears
- The app interface will update to reflect your new mode
Note: Content posted in one mode remains in that mode even if you switch. For example, anonymous posts will remain anonymous even if you switch to public mode.
You can set a default mode in your profile settings that will be active each time you open the app.
